Luke Who better to release the last album of 2023 than the person who released two of my favourites this (last) year – Spectral Lore's 11 Days and Auriferous Flame's Ardor for Black Mastery? I appreciate this particular project because it sits in an ideal middle ground for me between Ayloss' "pure" dungeon synth projects like Ontrothon and Compendium of Curiosities and the metal of Spectral Lore. I need a little menace in my DS and this has just a touch. But also plenty of epic fantasy. RIP 2023.

Ayloss strips out the fat and focuses on just pure black metal. he proves that his black metal core is A5 beef cooked medium rare and all of the extra elements like dungeon synth, ambient music and heavy metal style riffs bring the salad, wine and dessert making his SL albums the full meal. 3.5/5 ClassyMusicSnob
